Dave Jones, MPA
Principal
Dave Jones is a co-founder of Pathway Associates and a veteran
fund raising consultant. With over fourteen years of experience raising funds in both the political and non-profit arenas,
Dave brings a wealth of experience to his clients
and a sincere passion for their causes.
“I’m in the business of helping people realize
their dreams for their communities,” Dave explains.
“Whether I’m working to expand a nature center,
build a school for disadvantaged children, or restore a historic
cathedral, there is nothing more rewarding than helping worthy
organizations tap the resources they need to fulfill their missions.”
In addition to his development work, Dave served for twelve
years as a member of the Utah House of Representatives and for four years as the House Leader of his party.
Dave holds a master’s degree in public administration
from the University of Utah and is active with numerous
boards and commissions in Utah, including the Board of the Utah Nonprofits
Association.

Phyllis Hockett
Principal
With over 25 years in the field, Phyllis Hockett is a highly experienced development professional. She has just completed a year at Westminster College where she focused on strategic planning, community and organizational capacity building, and capital campaign planning. She is co-founder and Principal of Pathway Associates, LLC, a fundraising consulting firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Phyllis is an active volunteer in the Salt Lake City community and sits on several boards including the Utah Food Bank at Community Services Council, Utah Planned Giving Roundtable, Utah Society of Fund Raisers, Clear Channel Communications, One H.E.A.R.T(ibet), Pax Natura and Bosque Lluvioso del Rio Costa Rica. Phyllis has a clear commitment to pro bono service for nonprofits and works regularly with groups as diverse as soccer teams, Suzuki Flute, and refugee resettlement.
Strongly influenced by her upbringing in France and Thailand during the Vietnam War, Phyllis earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and French from Florida State University while joining civil rights, anti-war and women’s rights marchers in Washington, D.C. Following her undergraduate work, she was a White House Fellow and led a 1975 study on the feasibility of personal computer use in the federal government. She has since pursued extensive postgraduate training in fund raising and earned a Master of Major Gifts Fund Raising through the Institute of Charitable Giving. Most recently, Phyllis received a fellowship to attend the 2004 and 2005 Stanford Graduate School of Business’ Nonprofit Leadership Program. She is a graduate of Utah community advocacy and leadership programs Leadership Utah and Kids Count. Demonstrating her passion for the highest quality of professionalism in fundraising, Phyllis has developed, implemented, and teaches in a seven-course noncredit fundraising certificate program through the University of Utahs Professional Education program.
Phyllis’ greatest passion is her family: her twin high school daughters who keep her life filled with beautiful flute music and athletic commitment on the soccer field and her son who attends College of Marin and is becoming a fine musician and biology teacher. She spends her free time traveling, collecting African art, reading, and hiking in the Wasatch Mountains with her husband and their Golden Retriever.

Jayceen Craven Walker
Associate, Government Relations
“I really enjoy working with city, county, state, and federal leaders and helping educate them on programs and needs in our area. I feel it is important for them to understand what vital projects are happening in their districts and how they impact the citizenry of the state.”
Jayceen Walker has been working with Utah nonprofit groups and government organizations for over 15 years. She grew up in Price, Utah, and received an associate’s degree from the College of Eastern Utah, and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Utah University.
Jayceen has worked with the Hansen Planetarium and the Living Planet Aquarium, and currently serves as a consultant to The Leonardo, an art, culture, and science center being developed in Salt Lake City. She has extensive experience bringing educational programs to students in both urban and rural areas. In her positions at the planetarium and aquarium, she planned and executed educational program development and outreach. Her duties also included working with government and community leaders to ensure ongoing support for these programs.
Jayceen is a committed advocate who knows how to work with decision-makers to achieve positive results. She understands the complexities of Utah government, from rural town government and regulatory agencies to county councils and the state legislature. At Pathway Associates, Jayceen helps clients create and implement government relations strategies that address both long-term goals and immediate needs.
Jayceen is also an accomplished actress. She has worked with the Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Great American Melodrama in California. She regularly performs with the Salt Lake Acting Company, The Grand Theatre, Park City Performance, and Plan B Theatre, as well as in commercials, on television, and in films. Jayceen currently serves on the Utah Museums Board and is on the board of directors of the Utah Cultural Alliance. She was recently named Distinguished Alumni by the College of Eastern Utah.
