PATHWAY WELCOMES NEW ASSOCIATES
Services Expanded to Meet Nonprofit Community Needs
SALT LAKE CITY -- Pathway Associates, LLC founders, Dave Jones and Phyllis Hockett, announced an expansion of services and welcomed three new associates to their company. The firm has been known for more than a decade for its success in fundraising, strategic planning, board development, government relations, and capital campaign support to nonprofits in Utah. Pathway’s services now also include membership programs, executive recruitment, and succession planning.
As Dave Jones explained, “Pathway’s mission has always been based on a genuine commitment to our clients. Often while working on a capital campaign we will discover that an organization needs to focus on planned giving or expansion of the board of directors, and in the past we have served those needs. Now, when we learn that there is a need for such services as an intense analysis of an stagnant membership program or succession planning for the executive director, we will also be able to provide those services with highly experienced associates.”
New associates Jayceen Craven Walker, Barbara Pioli, and Mary Tull bring decades of targeted, relevant experience in the nonprofit sector. While associates work as a multidisciplinary team, Craven Walker specializes in government relations and advocacy. Pioli will continue to work with nonprofits in the areas of executive recruitment and succession planning. Tull will focus on increased sustainability through smart community building and membership programs.
“Dave and I always believed in keeping the company small and highly responsive to our clients. We are grateful for the partnerships we formed with our clients over the past ten years. The organizations we serve respond to all types of community need and we are honored to have the opportunity to work with them. With an exceptional team in place, we look forward to the next ten years.” added Phyllis Hockett.
Celebrating its 10th year, Pathway Associates is a highly regarded consulting firm providing non-profit organizations and government entities with strategic services designed to help them become more sustainable financially and secure organizationally.

START NOW TO HEAD OFF CRITICAL EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP SHORTAGE
By Barbara Pioli
Several national studies on nonprofit executive transition were conducted by leading research institutions between 2003 and 2005. Many of the results were similar to that of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which found that, of the “2,200 nonprofit organizations surveyed, 65 percent of respondents expected to go through a leadership transition by 2009.” Furthermore, a majority of the respondents are Baby Boomers in their 50s and 60s. What wasn’t anticipated at the time of the surveys was the downturn in the economy. As a result, the wave of retirements did not happen. Now that the economy is beginning to improve, talk about retirement is resuming. The impending wave of change brings two distinct challenges to the nonprofit sector. Read more.
